Spring Break

Well this past week was Spring Break for my school. While I didn't have any awesomely amazing adventures, it was still a fun week. The Saturday before it I went to see the movie 12 Rounds. I enjoyed this movie a lot. I've seen a lot of movies that are supposed to keep you on the edge of your seat and this movie does it just as good as any other one, if not better. From beginning to end the movie is non-stop and extremely fast-paced. The plot, a veteran cop combats a mass weapons broker/mass murderer through a series of 12 different rounds with the prize being the cop's wife, is very clever as well. The only down side, in my opinion, is the amount of language. Not as bad as some movies, but still a little much. Sunday was Palm Sunday and it and the following Monday passed with little action. Monday night, however, I went to my best friend, James (or Minick as I call him [it's his last name]). We were planning on filming parts of our movie the next day. Our filmer (Nelson) and main character (Kyle) spent the night as well. The following morning we met up with the third of our heroes (Micah), with me and Kyle being the first two. We spent the whole day filming, including an awesome chicken fight scene. Minick was in a chicken suit fighting Kyle, it wasn't actually a chicken fight.

Anyway, that night I went to a birthday party for two of my Junior friends (they are twins). Wednesday didn't do much. Thursday was fun though. It was the day before my birthday. We had baseball practice early, then I had the party that night. Around thirty of my friends showed up, so it was pretty cool. Then Friday, I turned 18!!! I went to eat lunch with my family then that night went to see another movie: Dragonball Evolution.

If you were a fan of the show, as I was, then this movie is... tolerable at best. If you had never watched a single episode of Dragonball, Z or otherwise, then the story may be hard to follow. I know I understood it all but... I still think they could have explained a lot more. The movie lacked a sense of epicness and the whole thing felt rushed. The main villian, Piccolo, just wasn't evil enough for me. All in all, it wasn't bad per se, but it wasnt't good either. I left the theater feeling that there was so much more that could have been done with it. They did everthing with the normal Hero's Journey right but it just felt lacking in every aspect. It is a film that was neither good nor bad enough to be remebered. The only way I feel they could redeem it was if, and it's a BIG if, they made more films and turned it into a franchise that spread into the Dragonball Z series and explained more of the backstories and made the characters more real. As of now though, the only memorable thing from Dragonball is the hair-styles...

Saturday we had a baseball game that we screwed up in the 7th inning and lost... Oh well, I'm about tired of baseball anyway. It's my least favorite of the three sports I play. Now we're here to Sunday. I went to see Monsters vs. Aliens with my lil bro. It was funny, but not as hilarious as I had heard. I still enjoyed it though and would definatly recommend it to watch as a family film.

School starts back tomorrow. I'm dreading it, but at the same time, I know it won't be too bad. Just about one month of high school left. I better enjoy it while it lasts...
